The Urban Hockey Foundation (UHF) is dedicated to making ice hockey accessible to everyone. Founded in Detroit in 2020, the UHF has expanded its reach globally, breaking down financial, logistical, and cultural barriers to the sport.
Our mission is to grow the game of ice hockey at a grass roots level by providing funding, mentorship, gear, & educational opportunities through ice hockey in non-traditional and diverse urban, underserved, and remote communities.
With initiatives spanning from gear drives in Kenya to learn to skate sessions in Detroit, the UHF’s mission is to foster diversity, inclusivity, and opportunity using ice hockey as the vehicle. We collaborate with local and international partners to provide equipment, mentorship, and opportunities, emphasizing the values of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Our efforts ensure that financial constraints or lack of exposure no longer hinder passionate individuals from engaging in ice hockey.
